Adventure writer Jon Krakauer's book "Into the Wild" is a journalistic yet personal examination of the life and death of Chris McCandless.
After graduating college, McCandless donated his life savings, cut off contact with his family, and vanished, becoming a nomad and living under the assumed identity Alexander Supertramp. For two years he explored America, meeting other travelers and friends before venturing into the Alaskan wilderness and perishing at 24 years old.
