Essay on Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan : Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (5th September 1888 – 17th April 1975) was a distinguished Indian scholar who also served as the first vice President and the second President of India.
He had been awarded many scholarships throughout his career and taught in many prestigious institutes and universities including the Oxford University. His specialty was Hindu philosophy and he played a vital role of introducing Hinduism to the western world, for which he was, also known as a bridge builder between India and western world.
Dr.
Radhakrishnan was awarded many awards in his life time including the Bharat Ratna in 1954; the British Order of Merit in 1963; first person to get Sahitya Akademi fellowship in 1968 and the Templeton Prize in 1975. He was also nominated for Nobel Prize in literature and Nobel peace prize for sixteen and eleven times respectively.
His birth day on 5th September is also celebrated as Teachers Day in India.
