Kathleen Edwards is a Canadian singer and songwriter who performs in the alternative country genre.
Born on July 11, 1978, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, Edwards spent part of her youth in Korea and Switzerland as her parents were diplomats. At the age of 5, she began learning to play the violin and continued her lessons for 12 years.
Growing up abroad, Edwards had few friends and often spent time at home listening to her brother's records, with a particular focus on Neil Young and Bob Dylan. Her brother bought her first album, Tom Petty's.
